"Born in Aberdeen Scotland in 1948, J.M. Allen joined the Royal Air Force in 1967 where he subsequently worked as a Plotter Air Photo then Photographic Interpreter, serving also in Cyprus and Malta. On leaving the service, he owned and lived upon a 36 ft traditional motor cruiser which he sailed through the inland waterways to arrive at Cambridge.

He subsequently worked a further 16 years with a public utility as a cartographic draughtsman including doing site surveys.

It was due to his interest in the origins of ancient measurement systems that he became interested in the subject of Atlantis, noticing that a rectangular shaped plain in Bolivia called the Bolivian Altiplano closely matched Plato’s description.

He has made a total of eight visits to the region in Bolivia doing expeditions in the field and each visit contributing further to his knowledge of the region and the Atlantis theory, resulting in the production of several Atlantis books and a Discovery Channel documentary “Atlantis in the Andes”."
